ACI Worldwide and Inter Pag advance intelligent payments in Brazil
Inter Pag has selected the ACI Acquiring Platform, including backoffice card management capabilities powered by RS2, as the foundation for its acquiring operations.
The cloud-enabled platform combines payments intelligence, AI-driven fraud prevention, analytics, ecommerce tools and orchestration capabilities.
The deployment is intended to simplify operations, improve flexibility, strengthen resilience and accelerate the introduction of new payment services as transaction volumes and merchant expectations continue to rise.
Inter Pag serves more than 100,000 small and medium-sized businesses across Brazil. The company is investing in modern infrastructure as merchants demand broader payment choices, value-added services and increasingly real-time experiences.
Brazil has become one of the world’ s most dynamic digital payments markets, driven in particular by the rapid adoption of Pix. Launched in 2020, the instant payment system has grown to nearly 170 million users and accounted for 54.7 % of all payment transactions in the second half of 2025.
“ Reliable, secure and resilient payment processing remains essential, but increasingly acquirers also need payments intelligence, AI-driven insights, orchestration capabilities and the flexibility to innovate faster,” he said.
“ Modern payments infrastructure is no longer just about processing transactions. It’ s about turning payments into a strategic growth engine.”
Gustavo Cunha Borges, Head of Technology, Banco Inter, said modernising the company’ s acquiring infrastructure was an important element of its payments strategy.“ We were looking for a platform that would provide the flexibility, scalability and resilience required for the next phase of our modernization journey,” Borges said.
“ The ACI Acquiring platform provides a strong foundation to support innovation, operational efficiency and future growth.”
ACI and RS2 launched their strategic partnership in Brazil in 2024, combining ACI’ s acquiring technology with RS2’ s back-office card management capabilities. The Inter Pag agreement builds on that relationship and positions the platform to support evolving payment methods and merchant requirements in Brazil.
For Inter Pag, the investment is designed to provide the technology foundation needed to scale its acquiring business while improving operational efficiency and resilience.
For ACI Worldwide, the partnership expands its role in a Brazilian market where instant payments, ecommerce and AI-enabled payment intelligence are reshaping the competitive landscape.
The partnership will also help Inter Pag respond to future changes in Brazil’ s payments ecosystem without relying on fragmented infrastructure.
By consolidating acquiring, fraud prevention, analytics and orchestration capabilities, the company aims to create a more adaptable environment for developing services and supporting merchants nationwide. •
The continued expansion of Pix and other alternative payment methods is increasing pressure on acquirers to support higher transaction volumes, stronger fraud controls and faster innovation. Providers are also seeking intelligent platforms that can use AI and real-time analytics to improve performance and respond more quickly to changing market conditions.
Vlademir Santos, Head of Sales, Brazil, ACI Worldwide, said the growth of digital commerce and changing merchant expectations were accelerating modernisation across the acquiring sector.
