COMPANIES FAILING TO PROTECT APIS RESEARCH REVEALS
SOAS 2024 survey looks at the challenges of 700 global CIOs and CISOs – including 28 from Brazil .
F5 has announced the findings of the State of Application Strategy ( SOAS ) 2024 study .
This report was built from interviews with 700 CIOs and CISOs from around the world , including 28 from Brazil .
For the first time since this survey began in 2014 , it was found that 41 % of organizations have at least the same number of applications and APIs ( Application Programming Interfaces ).
Today it is practically unfeasible to conduct digital business without consuming and publishing APIs .

The companies analyzed have an annual turnover that is between 200 million and more than 10billion dollars . This segment – with organizations that earn the equivalent of R $ 50 billion – uses , on average , 1013 applications . These are platforms such as the internet banking of the big banks , the engine of the largest e-commerce portals in Brazil or the main e-Gov portals .
“ What is surprising is that , in this size of companies , the number of APIs ( Application Programming Interfaces )
In the case of companies that are between 1 and 10 billion dollars the ratio is 453 APIs for 150 applications . Even companies that come up against revenues of 200 million dollars today have a large number of APIs : 293 .
“ It is worth noting that , among the universe of users of F5 solutions for application protection and APIs , we find the largest companies in the world . These organizations currently deal with more than 10 thousand APIs ,” Ricossa said .
