Government prioritisation of AI ecosystems
National strategies and public investments are accelerating AI adoption across Latin America, laying the foundation for long-term competitiveness.
Mexico, for example, secured US $ 640 million in AI investments between 2018 and 2024, reflecting its commitment to establishing an advanced AI ecosystem. Partnerships between the Mexican government, local universities and global technology companies focus on developing AI talent pipelines and research centres.
Similarly, Brazil( see p 24) has become one of the region’ s most active promoters of AI. Through innovation hubs, regulatory frameworks and largescale public-private partnerships, the country aims to position itself as Latin America’ s AI leader. The government’ s push toward digital public services, education in STEM fields and technology-friendly regulation complements the private sector’ s appetite for automation and analytics.
