ACI Worldwide and Prosa redefine payments in Latin America with groundbreaking infrastructure upgrade
ACI Worldwide, a global leader in payments technology, and
Prosa, one of Latin America’ s largest electronic payments networks, have completed a major infrastructure transformation, migrating Prosa’ s clearing house operations to a new, state-of-the-art data center in Monterrey powered by ACI’ s advanced software.
The initiative marks a historic milestone as Prosa becomes the first organization in Latin America to operate a triple-active data center model – three synchronized facilities running in parallel to ensure uninterrupted operations. This achievement positions
Mexico as a leader in payment resilience, reliability, and business continuity, setting a new benchmark for secure and scalable financial infrastructure across the region.
The Monterrey site, chosen for its low seismic and climate risk, is housed within Triara’ s ICREA Level VI-rated facility, providing unmatched security and stability. The system supports more than 5,000 transactions per second and underpins Prosa’ s annual processing volume of over 12 billion transactions.
“ This achievement represents one of the most important technology investments for Prosa,” said Salvador Espinosa, CEO, Prosa.
“ Our triple-active data center ensures every transaction in Mexico meets the highest standards of security, reliability, and efficiency. We are building the future of payments for Latin America.”
Alberto Olivares, VP for Spanish-speaking Latin America at ACI Worldwide, said:“ When every second counts, downtime isn’ t an option. Prosa’ s triple-active model delivers the resilience needed for secure digital growth.”
Latin America accelerates AI adoption but faces gaps in talent, investment and governance
The Economic Commission for Latin
America and the Caribbean( ECLAC) and Chile’ s National Center for Artificial Intelligence( CENIA) have released the third edition of the Latin American Artificial Intelligence Index( ILIA 2025), which measures AI preparedness, adoption and governance in 19 countries.
The report shows that AI use in the region is expanding rapidly: Latin America and the Caribbean account for 14 % of global visits to AI tools, despite representing only 11 % of global internet users.
Chile, Brazil and Uruguay lead the index as“ pioneers,” followed by“ adopters” such as Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
Persistent structural gaps constrain growth. The region produces 6.6 % of global GDP but attracts just 1.1 % of worldwide AI investment. Talent shortages have widened since 2022 due to limited training and brain drain, while many national AI strategies lack funding and evaluation mechanisms.
ECLAC Executive Secretary José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs said AI could help overcome Latin America’ s“ development traps” if digital and productive policies are aligned to close infrastructure, innovation and governance gaps. but little urgency,” as none surpass the world average in AI investment per capita.
Supported by the EU – LAC Digital Alliance, ILIA 2025 serves as a key benchmark for guiding inclusive, ethical and sustainable AI development across the region.
However, over one-third of countries remain“ explorers,” with limited capacity and earlystage ecosystems.
CENIA Director Álvaro Soto added that countries show“ interest
