CASE STUDY
Maintaining business continuity throughout the migration was a priority. The insurer’ s core insurance systems had evolved over decades, creating tightly connected applications supporting auto, health and life insurance. Large transactional datasets had to remain synchronized while workloads were transferred into a new cloud architecture.
RIMAC already operated a multicloud strategy, using Amazon Web Services for digital channels and Google Cloud Platform for analytics. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Exadata were selected for core transactional workloads because of their performance, availability and enterprise database capabilities.
We reduced processing times by up to 80 % and gained the agility to scale as demand grows.
“ Moving to more resilient cloud architectures and addressing legacy complexity does not have to compromise operational continuity,” said Rodolfo Armellini, Managing Director, Kyndryl Latin America Southwest.“ This project demonstrates how a well-executed modernization strategy can help organizations reduce complexity while strengthening operational stability and adapt and scale. The modernization positions RIMAC to compete more effectively while supporting its broader Digital Transformation.” agility and overcome limitations created by legacy platforms, RIMAC collaborated with Kyndryl to migrate key workloads from on-premises environments to OCI, upgrade databases and modernize critical business applications.
RIMAC selected Kyndryl because of its understanding of the insurer’ s complex application landscape and its experience managing large-scale legacy environments. The modernization formed part of a long-term strategy to strengthen resilience, improve operational efficiency and support future innovation.
“ Operating at RIMAC’ s scale requires technology platforms that are flexible, resilient and highly available,” said Carlos Herrera, Executive Vice President of IT and Data, RIMAC.“ By modernizing our critical systems with Kyndryl using multicloud architectures, we reduced processing times by up to 80 % and gained the agility to scale as demand grows. Together, we successfully laid the foundation for a more agile and resilient operation that will enhance our ability to respond to customer needs.”
Kyndryl Consult worked with RIMAC to develop a phased modernization roadmap combining architectural redesign, extensive testing and staged migrations over 15 months. Specialists across infrastructure, networking, applications, security, data and analytics collaborated to migrate legacy servers to Oracle Exadata, upgrade databases and integrate workloads across OCI, AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
More than 55 % of RIMAC’ s transactional workloads, including its most complex systems, were migrated successfully to the cloud. Rehearsal migrations and validation exercises identified issues before production cutovers, ensuring customers experienced no service disruption.
“ Modernizing critical platforms in highly regulated industries such as insurance requires a cloud infrastructure designed to deliver high performance, security and resilience at its core,” said Danni Mnitentag, Vice President, Alliances and Channels, Oracle.“ With OCI, RIMAC now has a technology foundation built to support mission-critical transactional workloads, integrate multicloud environments and enable a more efficient, future-ready operation.”
The project also included upgrades to operating systems, communication components and www. intelligentcio. com
