Telconet expands Latin American footprint with three new data centres and 100MW AI hub
Springs, Florida, is scheduled to begin operations during the second quarter of 2027. An eighth data centre will be built in Quito, Ecuador, with commissioning planned for the third quarter of 2028.
The Quito development will become the centrepiece of Telconet’ s long-term AI strategy. Initially delivering 10MW of capacity, the site has been designed for phased expansion to 100MW, positioning it among the largest AI-focused data centre developments in the Andean region as demand for high-density computing infrastructure accelerates.
Telconet targets regional expansion with three new data centres and 100MW AI hub. The company is accelerating its digital infrastructure ambitions across Latin America with plans to open three new data centres before the end of 2026 while laying the foundations for a major artificial intelligence campus expected to reach 100MW of capacity.
New facilities in Ecuador, Panama and Colombia will strengthen Telconet’ s regional platform for cloud computing, connectivity and AI workloads as demand for digital services continues to rise across the region.
The expansion follows the recent inauguration of Telconet’ s third data centre in Ecuador.
Francisco Villacreses, Commercial Vice President of Telconet Latam, said the company will continue its rapid rollout throughout the year, with a fourth Ecuadorian facility scheduled to enter service during the third quarter. Additional sites in Panama and Barranquilla, Colombia, are expected to become operational during the fourth quarter.
Villacreses said the company had already established two operational facilities in Ecuador in 2012 and 2013 before adding its third site in 2026. The fourth Ecuadorian facility is expected to open in September, followed by the Panama and Barranquilla projects before year end.
The developments form part of Telconet’ s wider strategy to create an interconnected network of eight edge data centres linked directly to the company’ s submarine cable landing stations. The approach is designed to improve regional connectivity while reducing latency for cloud applications, enterprise services and AI deployments.

Supporting these plans is a previously announced investment programme worth US $ 550 million through 2027. The funding will expand the company’ s regional edge data centre portfolio while increasing international network capacity through additional submarine cable infrastructure.
Telconet believes the investment will strengthen its position as a regional provider of digital infrastructure capable of supporting enterprises adopting cloud platforms, advanced data processing and AI technologies.
By combining strategically located edge facilities with enhanced international connectivity, the company aims to provide lower-latency services and greater resilience for customers operating across multiple Latin American markets.
With AI adoption gathering pace and cloud demand continuing to grow, Telconet’ s expansion reflects a broader trend among regional infrastructure providers investing in larger, more interconnected facilities capable of supporting next-generation digital services.
