Editor’ s Note

Welcome to the latest edition of Intelligent CIO LATAM. Across Latin America, Digital Transformation is no longer confined to isolated pilot projects or back-office experimentation. It is now reshaping industries ranging from retail and logistics to data centres and infrastructure management, as companies look for greater efficiency, resilience and long-term scalability in increasingly competitive markets.

This issue highlights how organizations are using technology not only to modernize operations but also to rethink customer engagement, supply chains and energy strategy. In Brazil, gardening industry specialist Forth Jardim has transformed its commercial and customer service operations after restructuring its Salesforce ecosystem with Brazilian consultancy Taak. Vitor Eller, Director of Market Intelligence, Forth Jardim, says the project delivered rapid gains, including an 18 % increase in average order value and a two-day reduction in shipping times, demonstrating how integrated customer data and operational visibility can quickly generate measurable business results( p18).

Elsewhere, the debate surrounding Brazil’ s growing data centre market continues to intensify. José Mendieta, Energy Director, Elea Data Centers, argues that the country’ s energy challenges should not be blamed on data centres alone, but rather viewed as a broader issue of grid coordination and infrastructure planning. With more than 88 % of Brazil’ s electricity generated from renewable sources in 2024, the country remains one of the world’ s most sustainable energy markets – although transmission and distribution inefficiencies continue to create challenges( p24).
Maersk’ s latest regional research reveals how AI, selective automation and digitalization are transforming supply chains across Latin America. As organizations adopt hybrid operating models, demand is increasing for skilled, data-driven talent capable of managing both advanced technologies and complex regional operations( p35).
Connectivity is rapidly becoming one of the defining foundations of Brazil’ s Digital Transformation economy, evolving far beyond its traditional role as a basic operational utility as enterprises expand cloud environments, deploy AI-driven services and modernize digital infrastructure, network resilience and intelligent connectivity are increasingly shaping competitiveness and long-term growth.
Jefferson Mendes, Pre-Sales Manager, TP-Link, says connectivity is no longer simply about access to the Internet – it has become the platform supporting innovation, operational efficiency and the next phase of Brazil’ s digital growth trajectory( p18).
