PROJECT ROUND-UP
GUATEMALA COSTA RICA
Guatemala City will be the next Latin American capital to adopt Kapsch TrafficCom’ s urban mobility management solutions, joining Buenos Aires, Quito, Lima and Panama City. The City has contracted Kapsch TrafficCom to implement a centralized traffic signal system through a modern control center, enabling the operation of 511 intersections and the renewal of existing traffic signal infrastructure.
Kapsch TrafficCom will provide the infrastructure for the renovation of the City’ s Control Center, including hardware and software for its EcoTrafiX mobility management platform. The platform will support fixed, actuated, responsive and adaptive traffic signal modes.
EcoTrafiX controllers will manage all 511 intersections, equipped with new traffic lights, video detection cameras and variable messaging panels.
An open, standardized communication protocol will facilitate interconnection between devices from different vendors.
“ The traffic light centralization is one of the first steps toward intelligent mobility management and will enhance mobility for citizens in Guatemala City,” said Santiago Rosas, Solution Consulting Manager for Latin America, Kapsch TrafficCom.
The contract also includes a technology transfer process with training for city personnel to operate and manage the new system.
