PROJECT ROUND-UP

BRAZIL
Elea Data Centers has announced a historic project of up to 3.2 GW of energy capacity to support the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence and cloud computing applications.
The initiative will establish Rio AI City, a data center ecosystem located in the Olympic Park area of Rio de Janeiro – the epicenter of connectivity, energy and strategic logistics for the sector. With several billion dollars in investment, the project will be one of the largest digital infrastructure developments in Latin America.
Already integrated into the city’ s urban infrastructure – including the submarine cable hub, local power grid and regional connectivity – the project benefits from one of the world’ s most stable power grid connections with 99.8 % availability, and operates exclusively on renewable energy sources.
Rio AI City will also act as a catalyst for urban revitalization. The complex will be directly linked to the Mata Maravilha urban revitalization program in Porto Maravilha. Inspired by Rio’ s natural beauty and heritage, the public-private venture will reforest and revitalize more than 200,000 square meters, including a dedicated digital zone for green technology, designed to attract innovation companies and digital nomads from around the world.
The plan also includes two iconic parks, residential areas, green spaces, cultural venues, educational institutions, hotels, restaurants and longevity zones, creating a multifunctional urban ecosystem.
