Nokia and Canal + Telecom expand and automate fiber network to bring broadband access to Caribbean
( FTTH) services across the French Caribbean territories. With its compact footprint, the solution offers Canal + Telecom a highcapacity, low-density fiber option ideal for island deployments and for serving areas with lower population density. Nokia’ s Lightspan fiber solution allows Canal + to future-proof its network and seamlessly evolve to 25G PON as needed.
Nokia has confirmed that Canal + Telecom, a subsidiary of Canal +
Group, which operates in Overseas Departments and Territories( DOM-TOM), will deploy its Lightspan and Altiplano solution to support the transformation of its fiber network across French Guiana and Guadeloupe.
The deployment will help Canal + Group address the growing demand for more capacity and help drive higher levels of automation in Canal + Telecom’ s network and service operations.
Canal + will deploy Nokia’ s Lightspan Mini Optical Line Terminal( OLT) solution to help accelerate the roll out of Fiber-to-the Home
Canal + Telecom will also leverage Nokia’ s Altiplano solution to manage its entire access network more effectively and achieve greater operational efficiencies.
“ As the first operator in the Caribbean to adopt Nokia’ s Altiplano platform, we are pioneering intelligent network automation that anticipates and resolves issues proactively, ensuring exceptional reliability and an elevated experience for our customers,” said Laurent Champouret, Head of Network and Fixed Access Engineering, Canal + Telecom.
“ For the people and businesses of French Guiana, Martinique and Guadeloupe, our deal with Canal + Telecom demonstrates an important step towards a more connected future,“ said Matthieu Bourguignon, Senior Vice-President, Network Infrastructure, Europe, Nokia.
San Luis province strengthens public safety with mission-critical communications from Motorola Solutions
Argentina’ s San Luis province is implementing a Motorola
Solutions( NYSE: MSI) mission-critical radio communications system for its Provincial Police. The TETRA system will expand coverage and enable new capabilities for first responders to help protect communities across the province.
Javier Salomón, Director of Technology and Security, San Luis, said:“ The new Motorola Solutions system expands coverage and enables interoperability between our nine police departments across the province to support real-time collaboration, shorter response times and greater operational efficiency.”
The TETRA radio technology is also used by the province of Santa Fe and will additionally interoperate with systems in the neighbouring provinces of Córdoba and San Juan to facilitate robust coordination between police forces and swift, unified responses to national security threats.
The first phase of the system expansion will extend coverage to San Luis, Villa Mercedes and Merlo while also introducing critical new capabilities.
Group calling will enhance inter-city coordination and geolocation will allow the Provincial Police to more precisely locate and direct fieldbased agents, improving response times and operational efficiency.
“ The province of San Luis spans nearly 77,000 square kilometres across mountains, deserts and lakes, which presents unique considerations when it comes to voice communications for emergency services,” said Elton Borgonovo, MSSSI Vice President, Latin America and Caribbean Region, Motorola Solutions.
“ The deployment of our new TETRA system will help to keep first responders connected across this diverse terrain so they can better serve every corner of the province.”
