Encouraging the ‘ mature ’ use of Gen AI
Paulo Souto , CEO , Inmetrics Latam , says the use of Gen AI should be applied after an analysis from the outside in – considering the particular needs of each operation .
Gen AI must be integrated into a company ’ s operation with an outside-in perspective , that is , taking into account the company ’ s needs .
That is the experience of Paulo Souto , CEO , Inmetrics Latam , who leads a team that implements Gen AI for projects in Chile , Colombia and the Dominican Republic .
Responsible for negotiating the implementation of generative AI in banks , insurance companies and other economic sectors , Souto believes that there is still a lot of ignorance about this technology .
“ The applicability of generative AI is very broad . Therefore , it is necessary to identify where its use can generate more value , considering both the technology itself and the company ’ s activities .”
To create more assertive solutions , Inmetrics Latam bets on the prior analysis of the situation of each company and offers tests in isolated environments before implementation .
Souto believes that the negotiation with a company that wants to implement Gen AI is mature when discussing issues such as data , information security , cybersecurity , risk , compliance , among others .
Inmetrics Latam ’ s main solution in this category is generative AI middleware that combines models such as OpenAI , Claude , Gemini and others into an open-source environment .
Called Liev , the solution , is pitched as tripling productivity in quality testing and reducing the production time of code for programming by 80 %.
Liev ’ s results can be obtained in up to four months , depending on the IT team ’ s preparation . The middleware is also part of the internal operation of Inmetrics and Inmetrics Latam , in its offices in Santiago de Chile , Bogotá and Sao Paulo . More than 600 people have already been trained to use the solution in the three countries .
Liev has been in development since 2022 , in partnership with the State University of Campinas ( Unicamp ) in Brazil , one of the top five higher education institutions in Latin America .
Inmetrics estimates that Liev will be responsible for 20 % of the holding ’ s total turnover in 2024 . The total investment in its development to date has been US $ 8 million .
A subsidiary of Brazilian company Inmetrics , Inmetrics Latam has added more than 30 million hours of experience in technology projects . Its team of specialists is composed of more than 1200 professionals in units in Chile , Colombia , the Dominican Republic and Brazil .
