COLOMBIA
ICT Minister Mauricio Lizcano has announced that two AI centers will be built in Cartagena .
Also outlined is the development of a digital application – within the framework of the ‘ PotencIA ’ strategy – to improve the city ’ s tourist services .
The AI centers will be located in the Nelson Mandela and El Pozón neighborhoods – one financed by MinTIC and the other by the Mayor ’ s Office .
They will have the capacity for high-speed Internet and come with an innovation center and a training center .
In addition , the city will have the Talento Tech program – a tech ‘ bootcamp ’ to train 3,000 young people in digital skills .
In addition to the two AI centers announced for Cartagena , three will be installed in Bolívar department : one in Turbaco , another in Magangué and another still to be defined in the south of the department .

PERU
Peruvian retail tech startup Price Lab is planning expansion – boosted by $ 360,000 in funding raised in a pre-Seed round led by iThink VC and Venture Do .
The expansion is to start in Mexico with Price Lab strengthening its development and enhancing AI .

MEXICO
Techreo , a Mexican fintech pitching financial services to Latin America ’ s underbanked , has secured $ 3.4m in funding from G2 Momentum Capital and Creation Investments Capital Management .
Techreo , founded in 2022 , says it will use the sum to enhance its technology and expand operations in Mexico , where it has over 400,000 users , and Bolivia where it has 40,000 users .
Techreo ’ s offer includes digital and physical debit cards , electronic transfers , bill payments , loans , investments , remittances and financial education programs .
“ We are committed to being an agent of change in Latin America , beginning our expansion through Bolivia and focusing on Peru , Colombia , Ecuador and the Hispanic population in the United States ,” said Iliana de Silva , CEO and co-founder , Techreo .

ECUADOR
Two Free Digital Points in Azuay have been re-powered as part of an on-going project to bring tech to rural areas .
Minister for Telecommunications and information César Martín Moreno visited the new points to highlight the government ’ s commitment to the project .
The repowering includes updating equipment and increasing Internet speed from 15 to 100 Mbps and completed through joint work between MINTEL and Dundee Precious Metals .
Price Lab offers an electronic shelf label system ( ESL ) with realtime pricing updates , using AI to optimize pricing and sales for both physical and online retailers .
The repowering means some 17,000 people have access to digital spaces and training through agreements with national and international telecommunications companies such as : Microsoft , Google and Oracle , among others .
