Epson CEO visits LATAM reinforcing commitment to sustainability and the environment
Top executive visits Chile and Peru to personally strengthen the company ’ s ties with the Reforestemos Foundation .
Yasunori Ogawa , Epson ’ s global CEO , made his first LATAM visit since taking office – taking in Chile and Peru .
During his visit , the pro-sustainability strategy that the company has been developing for several years was reinforced , by actively supporting environmental conservation , which has materialized in the Environmental Vision 2050 and which seeks carbon neutrality , energy efficiency and recycling , executing various actions , both in sustainability of its product line and processes , as well as in environmental campaigns .
The first stop was in Santiago de Chile where , according to the National Forestry Corporation of Chile ( CONAF ), the country ’ s forests are among the 35 critical points of global importance for biodiversity , with 1,957 endemic plant species ( 50.3 %) out of a total of 3,892 native plant species .

This vulnerability of the Chilean ecosystem led Epson to form an alliance with the Reforestemos Foundation in 2021 , with the commitment to protect native species against the threats of forest fires , Drought and pests that have caused growing and worrying deforestation in the country .
An alliance that is in line with the company ’ s Environmental Vision 2050 : “ We are working to reduce the carbon footprint , and this goal requires certain efforts that are complex to achieve , but Epson is indeed convinced that this path is the right one ,” said Ogawa , who sees in these activities that allow Epson products to be associated with reforestation mitigation pathways .
“ We want people in Latin America to be more aware of the current problems facing the environment and to be able to use products that are more friendly to ecosystems .”
During his visit to Chile , Ogawa actively participated in a planting activity of native species in the Santiago Forest of the Metropolitan Park .

At Cerro San Cristóbal – the city ’ s ‘ green lung ’ – Ogawa was accompanied by the executive director of Fundación Reforestemos , Suzanne Wylie ; Epson ’ s Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Latin America , Fabio Neves ; the Director of Sales and Marketing of the company ’ s Commercial Business for the Southern Region , Roberto Donoso , and the Head of Corporate Sales , Juan Luis Sanfuentes .
“ With this reforestation activity , we wanted to send a powerful message to the community about the importance of conserving , protecting and stimulating the biodiversity of ecosystems that are unique to the planet ,” said Ogawa , explaining that Epson plans to transition to 100 % renewable electricity worldwide by the end of 2023 .
“ We also use recycled plastics for our products , minimizing e-waste from our production , to protect the environment ,” Ogawa said . p
