• Security : So , it doesn ’ t matter if a worker connects from a business network or from their home Internet connection . An environment that is always safe , upto-date and complies with European data protection regulations , GDPR .
Fortinet commissioned Inmoment to conduct the Global Work from Anywhere Study 2023 which shows some sensitive trends around the concept called work from anywhere ( WFA ) and its implications for information security . For this , it commissioned a survey of five hundred and seventy organizations around the world with at least 100 employees at the beginning of January 2023 .
The survey results provided three main findings :
• WFA is clearly here to stay .
• Organizations consider home network insecurity a major concern
• Companies are planning significant investments in cybersecurity , but there is no consensus as to which solutions they prioritize .
However , security occupies a relevant place if we consider the implications not only labor or technical , but also strategic that they imply .
Those who have had a WFA-linked breach are more likely than those who have not had to invest in laptop antivirus , VPN , Secure Access Service Edge ( SASE ), SD-WAN , and Zero Trust
Network Access ( ZTNA ).
According to the Fortinet study , one of the critical points is the ability of the support area to respond to employee problems . Seventy-two per cent of respondents saw an increase in WFA support calls over the past two years . Clearly , supporting WFA employees demands too much time and too many resources for an IT team to keep pace . To sustain WFA , organizations with weak IT must have better management and support solutions .
The study reveals that nearly 75 % of respondents believe such a solution can help reduce security risks for their businesses .
Nearly half ( 48 %) believe home security alone reduces their risk by 50 % or less and another third ( 36 %) believe it can only reduce risk by 50 % to 75 %.
