FEATURE : REMOTE WORKING

A RECENT STUDY BY LOGITECH , WHICH GATHERED INFORMATION FROM MORE THAN 3,000 PEOPLE WORKING FROM HOME WITH STANDARD EQUIPMENT , REVEALS THAT 58 % OF EMPLOYEES HAVE TO SIT IN AN UNCOMFORTABLE POSITION TO BE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA DURING VIDEO CONFERENCES .

Although when we talk about ergonomics , the first things that come to mind are office chairs and desks , there is also enterprise-level technology specifically designed to help reduce neck and back discomfort and other musculoskeletal and bone conditions .
Mónica Bravo , Channel Manager , Logitech Colombia , explained : “ Ergonomics is good economics . Employers can directly impact the quality of work performed by their employees by providing elements that preserve their health .”
In this regard , workers can benefit from external monitors and web cameras that allow them to lift their gaze and adopt an optimal posture , as well as ergonomic mice and keyboards that enable a more natural position of the wrists , hands and forearms , thus reducing muscle strain . Similarly , comfortable headphones and speakers can help alleviate the strain of listening during calls .
Furthermore , a clinical study conducted by researchers from Queen ’ s University in Canada and Oakland University in the US found that 24 % of respondents reported new discomfort while working from home that they did not experience when working in their office .
Fifty-one per cent reported an increase in the severity of their preexisting work-related pain since transitioning to their remote work environment , and over a third of employees reported worsening discomfort in the neck and back .
