In recent years , there have been a series of changes and education has not been an exception . Today , one of the biggest challenges for institutions is to find ways to increase the number of enrolled students and reduce dropout rates while keeping their engagement and interest throughout the course .
Estimates from UNESCO IESALC ( 2020 ) show that the temporary closure of Higher Education Institutions affected approximately 23.4 million students and 1.4 million teachers in Latin America and the Caribbean by the end of March 2020 .
Some studies are managing to identify why students drop out of university , but how can we make them stay ? Understanding the student profile and what makes them stay in education is essential to reverse the school dropout situation .
Talking to some institutions , we were able to identify the following factors that make the student stay in the course , which are :
• Academic preparation
• Social integration
• Commitment to the goal
• Educational environment
• Mobility
• Use of technology
Based on these factors , the institution can design ways and tactics to keep the student engaged , and much of this work has been done during the pandemic by revolutionizing the act of teaching .
Institutions are already identifying some results . The offering of new courses and those geared towards
