EL SALVADOR
Claro , an operating subsidiary of Grupo América Móvil , has announced investments of US $ 400 million in Argentina . The investment announcement was made during a meeting between Carlos Slim , President of Claro , and Santiago Cafiero , Argentine Chancellor . Among the telecom ’ s investment plans , advances in 5G networks in Argentina and the implementation of fiber optic networks stand out . Claro ’ s vision is to end 2022 with one million customers with fiber networks and 22 million mobile telephony customers .
The Central Reserve Bank and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion ( AFI , in Spanish ) brought together 32 central banks and 12 financial authorities from 44 countries in El Salvador to discuss financial inclusion , the digital economy and the deployment of Bitcoin . The Central Bank and member institutions of the National Council for Financial Inclusion and Education presented to AFI important initiatives , including policy decisions and regulations , that are helping citizens of El Salvador gain greater access to financial resources , products and services .

The BID Lab , an innovation laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank Group ( IDB , in Portuguese ), will invest US $ 1.5 million in the Dolado platform to promote the digitization of micro , small and medium-sized companies operating in the favelas of Brazil . This investment will enable the development of a platform to provide small traders with access to credit and supply chains , such as management tools specially designed for their needs . Dolado provides a platform that will allow merchants a complete digital experience , including an electronic catalog to share with users , financial management , credit lines , connection with suppliers , better payment terms and security .
The government of Uruguay has announced that the country will have the first Microsoft Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) laboratory in Latin America . The lab will focus on developing solutions for projects using AI and the Internet of Things ( IoT ). The lab will create prototypes of potential solutions that will quickly show organizations and business partners how to leverage AI and IoT technologies to visualize , transform , innovate and solve their transformation challenges . The AI and IoT Insider Lab will be the first of its kind in the region and the third outside the US .
