In 2019 , ESG research found that employees spent an average of six hours per week doing work-related tasks outside of office hours , with 68 % of respondents indicating that this occurred multiple times per week . However , the scale of this dynamic fundamentally changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic . However , a staggering 41 % of respondents indicated that the increase in remote workers was among the factors most responsible for making cybersecurity and management more difficult over the last two years .
